THE OPERATOR

Pablo founded Operative Partners to provide a better transition option for healthcare business owners. His journey in business began early, working in his family's Geriatric Care small business where he learned firsthand about the intensive challenges business owners face of scaling from zero to 1. After graduating from Harvard, he returned as CEO. This experience gave him invaluable insight into scaling service-based healthcare businesses with a focus on high-impact solutions.

Driven to learn from high-growth technology companies, he moved to San Francisco and joined the hypergrowth journey of Wildfire Interactive, helping scale the company from 30 to 400 employees and from <$3M to $80M+ in recurring revenue before its $450 million acquisition by Google. This period, along with his subsequent roles leading a SaaS transition at HYFN that resulted in a strategic acquisition, gave him firsthand experience in M&A from the inside (sell side).

Pablo's path led back to healthcare when his wife, a Physician Associate, was accepted to the UW School of Medicine. This was a return to his roots; with a mother who was a pioneer in Gerontology and a father in clinical research, a commitment to improving healthcare has been a part of his life since the beginning. In Seattle, after a role as COO at a startup and serving as the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the venture studio Pioneer Square Labs, he took on a leadership role at SEIU 775 Benefits Group. There, he co-led an ~275-person organization with a $300M annual budget, focused on improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs for over 55,000 home care workers.

Most recently at Amazon, he worked as a senior executive in the Health division for five years. He led the vetting of hundreds of health tech companies for potential investment or acquisition, executing three acquisitions and playing a key role in Amazon's pandemic response and post-pandemic restructuring of its health strategy starting with the $3.9B acquisition of One Medical.

His goal now is not to be a passive investor, but to roll up his sleeves and become a dedicated steward for the legacy of one great healthcare company. Outside of work, Pablo and his wife are raising their two boys in Seattle, and they enjoy exploring the incredible mountains and waters of the Pacific Northwest.
